Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Kirasu (“Kirasu”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and protects information when you use our waitlist website (the “Site”), including joining the waitlist and using referral links.
This policy applies to the waitlist Site only. When the Kirasu mobile app launches, we will publish a separate or expanded privacy policy covering accounts, saved places, location, and other app features. Until then, the practices below are the ones that apply.
Contact: kirasu.india@gmail.com
1. Who we are
Kirasu is a place-discovery product operated under the trade name Kirasu. For privacy requests, write to kirasu.india@gmail.com.
2. Information we collect
We collect only what we need to run the waitlist.
2.1 Information you provide
- Email address — when you join the waitlist.
2.2 Information collected automatically
- Referral code — if you arrive via someone’s referral link (
/r/…or arefparameter), we store that code so we can credit the referrer when you sign up. - Campaign source — if present in the URL, we may store a simple
utm_sourcevalue so we understand how people found the Site. - Waitlist position and timestamps — we record when you joined and your position on the list.
- Referral counts — how many people signed up using your link (associated with your waitlist position, not shared publicly as your email).
2.3 Information stored on your device
We use your browser’s local storage to remember that you joined, your approximate position, and (if applicable) a referral code you arrived with. This keeps the “you’re in” state when you return to the Site. You can clear it anytime in your browser settings.
2.4 What we do not collect on the waitlist Site
- We do not require an account password on the Site.
- We do not collect precise location on the Site.
- We do not sell your email or waitlist data.
- We do not use your waitlist data for advertising profiles or third-party ad networks.
3. How we use information
We use waitlist information to:
- Confirm your place on the waitlist and show you your position when you return.
- Email you about launch, invites, beta access, and related product updates for Kirasu.
- Attribute referrals and understand which channels bring people to the Site.
- Operate, secure, and improve the Site (including abuse prevention and debugging).
- Comply with law or respond to valid legal requests.
We will not use your waitlist email to send unrelated marketing for third parties.
4. Legal bases and compliance note
We process waitlist data because you ask us to put you on the list (contract / service request) and because we have a legitimate interest in running an orderly launch and understanding basic acquisition sources. Where consent is required for a specific communication type, we will ask for it.
Kirasu is intended for people in India and elsewhere who can lawfully use the Site. We aim to follow applicable Indian law, including the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (and rules made under them), as they apply to our operations. If you are outside India, local rules may also apply; contact us if you have a jurisdiction-specific request.
5. Sharing and processors
We do not sell personal information. We share it only with:
- Service providers who host the Site, API, and database, and who send infrastructure email if we use them — only to operate the waitlist on our instructions.
- Professional advisors or authorities when required by law, or to protect rights, safety, and security.
- A successor if Kirasu is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset transfer, with notice where required.
Providers may process data on servers in India or other countries. Where data leaves India, we take reasonable steps appropriate to the transfer and the provider relationship.
6. Retention
We keep waitlist emails and related metadata until one of the following happens:
- You ask us to remove them,
- We close the waitlist and no longer need the list for launch invites, or
- We convert your waitlist entry into an account under a separate app privacy notice (you will be able to control that data in-product).
Local storage stays on your device until you clear it.
7. Your choices and rights
Subject to applicable law, you may:
- Access the waitlist information we hold about your email.
- Correct inaccurate details (for example, if you joined with a typo).
- Delete / withdraw from the waitlist — email us and we will remove your entry from the active list.
- Opt out of launch emails — reply or write to us; note that removing the email may also remove your waitlist spot if that is the only way we can identify you.
Email kirasu.india@gmail.com with the address you used to join. We may need to verify that the request comes from that address.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures appropriate to a waitlist service (HTTPS, access-limited backend storage, least-privilege practices). No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure. If we become aware of a breach that requires notice under applicable law, we will notify you and/or regulators as required.
9. Children and age
The Site is directed at people aged 16 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child under 16 joined the waitlist, contact us and we will delete the entry.
10. Cookies and similar technologies
The waitlist Site primarily uses local storage as described above. We do not run third-party advertising cookies on the Site. If we add analytics cookies later, we will update this policy and, where required, obtain consent.
11. Third-party links
The Site may link to third parties (for example Instagram). Their privacy practices are their own. Review their policies before sharing information with them.
12. Future mobile app (preview only)
When Kirasu launches as an app, features may include accounts, saved places, recommendations, and optional location used in the moment to suggest nearby places — not as a long-term movement history on the waitlist Site (which collects no location at all). App data practices will be described in an updated policy before those features are offered to the public.
13. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Material changes affecting the waitlist may also be communicated by email where appropriate.
